More Zip and Go Bags From More Swatches

I spent time going through all of the upholstery fabric swatches I got, rolled them up and displayed them in a basket...well actually 2 baskets.  I found these cute baskets at JoAnn's for 70% off.  How could I leave them?  I knew I had a use for them.  I just didn't know exactly what at the time.

I have so many swatches  that I pulled 3 that I liked and decided to make more Zip and Go Bags from a pattern by Erin at Dog Under My Desk.  The swatches are big enough for the front of the bag.  I used a faux leather on the back and the adjustible straps.

Here is the first one.

I used a black and white polka dot for the interior.

I used a checkerboard fabric for the second one.

I used an orange for the interior.

The last one is some selfish sewing I did for me.  My last few bags have been red.  Unfortunately, they weren't for me.  So this red zip and go is mine.  I love this bag for quick trips.  It holds just enough.

This is what the back of all 3 bags looks like.

I am getting ready for The Main Street Festival next month.  The first 2 bags will go there.

    1. Thanks, you need to try this pattern. I widened the strap on this bag to match my hardware. I purchased these labels from http://www.worldwidelabelstore.net/ but the wait time was 4-6 weeks so you have to be patient.

  2. I'm seeing alot of this pattern around the web and it's really growing on me. Your bags turned out just great!!!!!!!!!!!! I just recently came across a tutorial for a bag like this one but with one zipper so I may just give that a go when I finish all the other things on must do list.

    1. Thanks, Maria. I love this bag when I just want to take a few things with me and leave my hands free. It is a very comfortable bag to wear and fun to make. I put my phone in the smaller lower pocket and everything else in the top pocket. Works well for me.

  4. Great Bags! You will sell them well. Do you use the recommended interfacing? I have the pattern but somehow haven't tried it yet. I know she makes great patterns.

    1. Thanks, Norma. On these bags, I used the lining fusible interfacing but not the strap or bag fusible interfacing because of the thickness of the fabric. I also used the sew in interfacing she recommends. When I make this out of quilting cotton ot even lightweight home dec, I use all of the interfacing she suggests.

  5. Love those baskets and a great deal you got. They do look great with all your little rolls of fabric. Good for you making yourself a bag too and I hope you sell all your bags at the show.

  6. Thanks, Daryl. Thought this would be a good bag to wear to keep money, etc. on me, instead of laying in a box that I have to worry about.
