How can it be the last bag of 2015 Bag of the Month Club already?? I still have to post about my finished May bag and I have to make the April Bag (that I cut out over the weekend). I should be able to finish them all because I was a tester for the June Bag and it is completed.
The June Bag is a nice surprise as it is a wallet, something we haven't seen last year or so far this year. Don't you just love the look of this one?? Here is mine. I love those decorative corners. Emmaline Bags is now carrying them. You can get them here.
I used a fat quarter as the highlight piece (wish I could find more or these but I still have the same look in other colors) and paired it with a Kona solid. Have I told you how much I love Kona solids? I digress but back to the star of the show...The Penny Inn by Chris W Designs. Don't you want to see the inside? All in good time. If you open the front latch (from Emmaline Bags, really pretty, right? Get them here.), you will see that this wallet has a snap tab to hold it securely.
If you open it again, you start to see how huge this wallet is on the inside.
There is an ID pocket, 20 card pockets, 3 bill pockets, a phone pocket, 3 zipper pockets and still has room for lipstick and keys!!! This picture shows it empty but look at it filled....
It is big enough to hold everything I need. Plus, it comes with a wristlet strap and an adjustable crossbody strap. And do you want to know what else is pretty cool? The way the straps hook on to the wallet with a cute decorative strip.
I think this wallet is adorable. Don't panic at the number of pages in the directions. Christine is thorough and shows so many pictures along the way to make it easier to understand. Take it step by step...ask for help on the Bag of the Month Club facebook page if you need it, and persevere. You will love what you get for your efforts. Can't wait to see all of your wallets. Have fun.
You can still join the Bag of the Month Club until the end of the month. You can join here. All of this year's designs will be available to anyone on each individual designer's page starting next month.
It's beautiful, Marilyn; the color you chose is just perfect for it. Very clever of you to have a solid fabric for the card pockets and the print for the ID pocket--a nice custom detail. I enjoy just looking at it!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in love with the 1/2" D-rings now--they're such a cute size and are great for the swivel hooks! :)
Thanks, Krista. You know what went in to it. Love yours, too. Thanks for doing the corner tutorial.
DeleteGreat job Marilyn! Your wallet looks very neatly made. The fabrics you chose are awesome, very bubbly. I'm sure this one will make someone very happy. I still have to post about mine. So sad this is the last pattern for the Club!! :-( But there are many great patterns out there are plenty of fabric to keep sewing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Norma. Can't wait to see your wallet. I still have April's bag to do. It is cut out and ready to go.
DeleteHa ha Marilyn. You can bring that one to dinner along with my Sugar and Spice bag! Remember I wanted a wallet size purse, but the one you originally made for me was a little too loose for my phone. I love this one! And especially the snap that holds all the "guts" in! Can you tell I do not sew? Did you tell all your friends that you got all the sewing talent AND the patience when it comes to these projects? Your loving sister......
ReplyDeleteWell, gee. How do I respond to this, sis. You are a great supporter of mine and I do appreciate it. I love making bags for you because you make me feel like a talented sewist...Ha!
DeleteConfession; I still have not made the NCW wallet although I have the pattern and supplies. I like the fold down CC pocket on this one. I need a day job with less hours. Seriously not enough time to sew everything I want to. I don't even try to subscribe to the bag of the month because of the stupid day job.
ReplyDeleteI love the blues you picked for this wallet. The solid under the flap would be a great place for some embroidery or Emmalines "Handmade" tag.
Thanks, Kathy. I have a 4" x 4" embroidery hoop on my small machine but I don't have enough time to get in and play with it.
DeleteThat is one nifty wallet! I don't think I've ever seen a latch like that before. Love your fabric/color choices!
ReplyDeleteJanelle carries these latches at Emmaline Bags. They are definitely handbag jewelry.
DeleteGorgeous and as always your workmanship is wonderful. Just downloaded my pattern and instructions. Will start as soon as I fininsh the Nappy Bag by Mrs. H. that is getting moving right along. Thanks for sharing your lovely version of The Penny Inn.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome, Judith. Can't wait to see what you do with this pattern.
DeleteWeird I made a comment and it didn't publish. Okay I am trying one more time. Love your wallet in aqua. That's one of my favorite colors. Kona cotton is great and I love it for quilts too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Daryl. I see you also used a little aqua, too, on yours.
